About The Position

As a Perfusionist, your primary responsibility is to assist in the direction and administrative management of the department. You will work closely with the cardiovascular surgical team to assess each surgical case relevant to cardiopulmonary bypass needs. You will contribute in the set-up and prime the heart and lung machine and carioplegia circuits. We worked in a skilled, fast paced environment where team approach is critical to our success. You will routinely monitor acid-base, hemodynamic and hemostasis. Keeps all parameters within acceptable limits. Process remaining blood in the CPB circuit with autologous blood recovery equipment and appropriately labels transfusion packs and completes required paperwork. Survey each patient's chart to assess the scope of disease/illness and makes appropriate judgment concerning prime selection, additional fluid choices, drug usage during priming and CPB and techniques of conducting CPB. Set up, supervises and operates the insertion of IABP's. Provide surgical backup, IABP support and percutaneous CPB support for the Cardiac Cath Lab, CCU and ICU. You will set up and operates autologous blood recovery systems for cardiac and non-cardiac surgical cases. In this role, you will collaborate with the surgical team in making appropriate choices of perfusion supplies needed for the cardiac procedures.

Requirements

  • Four (4) year Bachelor's Degree.
  • Completion of a Graduate Cardiovascular Perfusion Program accredited by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP).
  • Certified Clinical Perfusionist- CCP, by the American Board of Cardovascular Perfusion (ABCP).
  • BLS (American Heart Association BLS Provider or American Red Cross BLS).
  • 1-2 years of related experience.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
