GENERAL OVERVIEW: This job is responsible for providing daily coordination of all functions necessary for efficient operation of clinical perfusion department including ensuring clinical competency of staff, quality assurance reporting mechanisms, coordinating and implementing policies and procedures, and providing support to meet department objectives and goals and patient care standards. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform management responsibilities to include, but are not limited to: involved in hiring and termination decisions, coaching and development, rewards and recognition, performance management and self productivity. Plan, organize, staff, direct and control the day-to-day operations of the department; develop and implement policies and programs as necessary; may have budgetary responsibility and authority. (20%) Maintain certification and proficiency as a clinical perfusionist by providing daily perfusion services as outlined in the Perfusionist role. (70%) Collaborate, consult, and coordinate with the Director to ensure adequate caseload coverage across the network, to implement policies, procedures, and goals for staff and department, participating in quality assurance and database mechanisms, evaluating current and future technology, to enhance perfusion services. Collaborate and consult with the Director, senior management, hospital committees, medical staff, affiliated schools and external agencies to support and advance the activities and goals of the perfusion department. (10%) On-call duties include nights, weekends, and holidays. Other duties as assigned.
