About The Position

The Perfusionist position at the Cardiovascular Institute involves working primarily at Glenbrook Hospital, with flexibility to travel to various Endeavor sites including Evanston, Skokie, Glenview, Highland Park, Swedish Hospital-Chicago, and Northwest Community Hospital-Arlington Heights. This is a full-time role requiring 40 hours of work per week, with an on-call commitment of 10-12 days per month. The role is critical in supporting, treating, and measuring the cardiopulmonary and circulatory systems of patients, particularly during complex cardiac procedures.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Perfusion Program.
  • Must be Certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion.
  • Licensed by the State of Illinois.

Responsibilities

  • Operate extra-corporeal circulation equipment during medical situations to support or replace the patient's cardiopulmonary/circulatory function.
  • Create or modify techniques for complex cardiac procedures such as LVAD, DHCA, and bridge to transplant.
  • Engage in rapid, critical decision-making to ensure successful outcomes during cardiopulmonary bypass.
  • Provide advice and counsel to medical and technical colleagues on perfusion-related issues.
  • Document all associated duties and patient interactions.
