About The Position

The Rapid Response Performance Improvement Coordinator is responsible for leading initiatives that promote high-quality clinical outcomes during patient deterioration events. This role supports timely and effective response through data-driven analysis, education, and process improvement. By leveraging performance metrics and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, the coordinator ensures a balance between optimal care delivery and efficient resource utilization. This goal-oriented position plays a key role in driving change and enhancing staff readiness based on current quality data and trends. The Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Medical and Surgical Critical Care Services.

Requirements

  • Current RN licensure in the State of Georgia.
  • National certification in a clinical within 6 months of hire.
  • Membership of professional organization within three months of hire.
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum five (5) experience in Critical Care Nursing; including performance improvement and database management responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated expertise with computer software (emphasis on Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated expertise with database management systems.
  • Strong attention to detail with emphasis on organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills working with those of diverse professional and personal backgrounds.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively with a variety of team members and independently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic including ability to manage multiple demands, meet deadlines and work at a rapid pace.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member and team leader.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities.

Nice To Haves

  • National Certification in Clinical Specialty preferred.
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field preferred.
  • Experience in leading interdisciplinary performance improvement projects and advanced knowledge of clinical deterioration pathways preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Rapid Response Quality Improvement Program.
  • Performs concurrent and retrospective case reviews to identify provider and/or system-related improvement opportunities.
  • Manages the data collection, monitoring and reporting of identified PI issues, ensuring action plans are implemented and loop closure completed.
  • Maintains all Rapid Response performance improvement program files and paperwork, including agendas, minutes and databases.
  • Creates reports, tables, charts and graphs that accurately reflect the Rapid Response Program's Performance Improvement activities and data.
  • Presents Rapid Response performance improvement data to various hospital committees or outside agencies at the request of Rapid Response Leadership.
  • Creates and maintains the Rapid Response Performance dashboard/data showing all required key performance indicators.
  • Collaborates with the Nursing Directors and Executive Director to assure the Rapid Response Performance Improvement Program is driven by Rapid Response data.
  • Develops, implements and maintains a process for reviewing and analyzing Rapid Response reports, shares findings with Rapid Response leadership on a regular basis.
  • Assists Rapid Response Leadership in the creation of practice management guidelines when indicated by Rapid Response data and/or Rapid Response case review.
  • Collaborates with Variance and Events Committee (VEC), Practice Review Committee (PRC), Resuscitation Committee, and other committees when indicated.
  • Assists in the orientation of new emergency staff and providers in areas pertaining to the emergency performance improvement program.
  • Participates in regional, state and national conferences at the request of Rapid Response Leadership.
  • Obtains annual continued education as required by NGMC.
  • Actively participates in Rapid Response/Critical Care and PI-related professional organizations.
  • Maintains awareness of all current state and national regulatory requirements related to Rapid Response performance improvement.
  • Assures this information is shared with Rapid Response Leadership on a routine basis.
  • Ensures the Rapid Response Program is compliant with the PIPS program and with the hospital's overall PI program.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by the Medical Surgical Critical Care Nursing Director.
