About the position

The Performance Engineering Specialist at Atlas Air, Inc. is responsible for providing critical operational support to ensure efficient and cost-effective dispatch and operational control functions. This role involves evaluating technical, performance, and operational data related to flight planning and aircraft operations, as well as providing logistical support to Dispatch, Flight Operations, and Marketing.

Responsibilities

  • Preflight planning and route analysis.
  • Evaluate and formulate route studies for airport suitability, payload capability, range, fuel consumption, and time comparisons based on historical data.
  • Perform airport analysis and pre-planning to ensure airports are equipped with necessary facilities and services.
  • Focus on operational risk analysis and risk mitigation.
  • Provide technical support to Dispatch and Flight Support for safe and efficient aircraft operations.
  • Administer and maintain aircraft performance systems and supporting databases.
  • Conduct validation testing and troubleshooting of aircraft performance data used in flight planning.
  • Analyze flight performance data for trends and changes over time.
  • Maintain and provide audit support of the airport suitability database and navigation databases.
  • Perform routine Performance Engineering and operations support functions, including Maximum Payload and Block Time Analysis.
  • Provide support and representation to external groups, including airport authorities and aircraft manufacturers.
  • Research, develop and produce content for airport station guides and operation pages.
  • Assist in the development and integration of new technologies into operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an aviation discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Dispatch license, Pilot license, or Air Traffic Control (ATC) experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in computer flight preparation systems preferred (NavBlue, Jeppesen, Sabre, Leidos, Flightkeys).
  • Worldwide geographic familiarity with jet airways and international flight planning preferred.
  • Basic computer coding/programming skills preferred.
  • Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication, analytical, project/program management, problem-solving, and customer service skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with flight planning systems.
  • Knowledge of airport operations and regulations.
  • Familiarity with aviation safety standards.
