HOW A PERFORMANCE DIETICIAN WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE: Performs administrative and clinical duties within their scope of practice. Provides nutritional planning, counseling, and documentation that is guided by evidence-based peer reviewed literature. Advises the chain of command on issues pertinent to nutrition and performance nutrition. Works within the scope of practice, which may include ordering labs. Provides individual and group counseling for guidance on performance nutrition. Designs and implements performance nutrition programs for agency personnel in Garrison, TAD/TDY, and deployed settings. Develops nutritional protocols and guidelines for rehabilitation and performance. Collaborates with the HP program Manager and/or Coordinator for implementation of new protocols and guidelines. Serves as an advisor on dining facility and/or galley nutrition and liaison between food service and command. Assists other regional agency personnel assets as required by the HP program Manager and/or Coordinator and approved by the chain of command. Attends and participate in meetings with other program staff members and medical personnel as requested and/or required. Serves as an advisor on supplementary nutrition, supplements, and performance enhancing substances within the program. Ensures that adequate educational materials and sports nutrition specific supplies are available. Assists with supply inventories and provide input on supply needs. Ensures that equipment and facilities under the purview of the Performance Dietitian are in safe working condition and are properly utilized. Ensures that records are updated as required. Participates in periodic in-service training for members of the HP Staff. Attends required training in accordance with guiding instructions. Commands will allow for attendance at the necessary conferences or courses to complete continuing education units required to maintain professional certification. Maintains 100% compliance with local mandatory command training requirements. Performs administrative duties, which may include maintaining records of workload, participating in education programs, and participating in clinical staff quality assurance functions. Participates in peer (record) reviews as directed and required. Develops and promulgate training materials as requested and required by the HP program Manager and/or Coordinator. Performs other tasks, within the scope of the PD position description, as assigned by the HP program Manager and/or Coordinator. Documents work performed, utilization, encounters, referrals, and all other information on the Military’s Electronic Health Record (i.e. AHLTA, MHS GENESIS, etc.) and/or the HP Enterprise-wide database (e.g., Smartbase, etc.), as directed by HP program manager and/or coordinator and or required by headquarters and its staff. Collects and reports all data as requested by the HP program Manager and/or Coordinator and required by headquarters and its staff. Proficiently utilizes computers, software, and technologies as required and requested by the HP program Manager and/or Coordinator as required by headquarters and its staff.
