The mission of the Office of Internal Audit is to support continuous government improvement through accountability, transparency, and trust. Its goals are to increase public trust in Deschutes County government, be a trusted advisor to elected officials and County management, create positive change in County government, and strengthen team knowledge, skills, and fulfillment. The Office achieves these goals through conducting performance audits. The U.S. Government Accountability Office defines performance auditing as an objective analysis to help management improve program performance, reduce costs, initiate corrective action, and contribute to public accountability.
