About the position

An Auditor III assigns, reviews and approves the work of auditing and office support personnel or performs complex auditing work. Work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities. Incumbents receive general supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek. Work is performed in an office where working conditions are normal. Work requires minimal physical effort.

Responsibilities

  • Assign, review and approve the work of auditing and office support personnel.
  • Perform complex auditing work.
  • Compile comprehensive audit reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university.
  • Four years of experience in performing auditing work.
  • Current certification as a Maryland CPA or an authorized approval letter of eligibility to sit for the Maryland CPA Examination may be substituted for the education requirement.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting and auditing.
  • Knowledge of municipal accounting.
  • Ability to speak and write effectively.
  • Ability to assign and review the work of auditors.
