About The Position

The Sleep Disorder Center is seeking a part-time Respiratory Therapist (RRT or RPSGT) to work on a per diem basis with 12-hour rotating shifts. This position specializes in applying scientific knowledge and theory to practical clinical problems in respiratory care. The therapist will assume primary clinical responsibility for all respiratory care modalities specific to their clinical area, including supervising students enrolled in respiratory care programs. The role requires considerable independent clinical judgment in the respiratory care of patients under the direct or indirect supervision of a physician.

Requirements

• Graduation from a CoARC accredited program in respiratory care with an associate's degree.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
• Licensed by the State of New York.
• Polysom Technologist with an associate degree in polysomnography and board certification (RPSGT) required.
• BLS/CPR Certification within the orientation period.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's Degree in respiratory care or related field.

Responsibilities

• Assume primary clinical responsibility for all respiratory care modalities.
• Supervise students enrolled in respiratory care programs.
• Exercise independent clinical judgment in patient respiratory care.
• Participate in orientation and continuing education as mandated by the State of New York.
• Complete population-specific competency annually on populations served.
