About The Position

BHcare is looking for compassionate and reliable Per Diem Residential Counselors to join our team at two of our residential programs: • Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Program: A community-based residential program for individuals with acquired or traumatic brain injuries. Residents receive comprehensive physical, psychological, vocational, and social support while building the skills needed to live independently and thrive in the community. • Howe Residential Program: A supervised housing program focused on recovery, independence, and community integration. Services include education, advocacy, rehabilitation, and individualized supports designed to help residents strengthen their skills and improve quality of life. As a Per Diem Residential Counselor, you will play an important role in helping residents achieve greater independence while ensuring a safe and supportive living environment.

Requirements

  • Compassion, patience, and the ability to provide respectful, client-centered care.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility to remain awake and alert during all shifts.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
  • Two years of college education (human services or behavioral science preferred) or High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2-4 years direct care direct care work experience.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft 365.
  • Must be able to navigate through electronic health records system (EHR).
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must maintain an acceptable driving record and be insurable at a reasonable rate under the Organization’s auto insurance plan.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Nice To Haves

  • Basic understanding of mental health, recovery, or co-occurring disorders preferred (training provided).

Responsibilities

  • Support residents with daily living skills such as personal care, cooking, cleaning, money management, and community integration.
  • Assist in developing and implementing individualized recovery and skill-building plans.
  • Provide emotional support, rehabilitation activities, and crisis intervention when needed.
  • Facilitate groups and one-on-one interventions as directed by recovery plans.
  • Supervise medication protocols and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Collaborate with treatment teams, families, and community resources to connect residents with supports.
  • Maintain accurate records and enter daily service activities in the system.
  • Ensure safety, health, and well-being of residents during all shifts, including overnight coverage.
