About The Position

The Research Data Associate is responsible for providing direct data and/or clinical research in support of clinical trials, studies and general research under direct supervision. Works with School of Medicine and Medical Center staff and departments, including Directors, Managers, Clinical Information Systems, Research Nursing and Regulatory Services. May also interface with patients and their families.

Requirements

• Associate's degree plus one year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Computer literate with good interpersonal, writing and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in science, public health, health education or a related field.
• Prior experience in a health care settings and/or research level interviews
• Prior patient education experience
• Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Initial phone contact with study participants to establish their eligibility
• Go over the MRI pre-screening questionnaire with the participants over the phone to ensure that they may safely undergo MRI
• Book MRI time at Center for Brain Imaging (CBI), NYU
• Arrange logistics of participant transportation to/from CBI
• Formally consent participants at CBI using IRB-approved Informed Consent Forms
• Administer an IRB-approved alcohol/drugs screening questionnaire and IRB-approved breathalyzer test at CBI with proper training
• Assist in MRI scanning and task-based fMRI with proper training
• Participate in mandated training courses (HIPPA, Computer security, etc.) as required
• Transfer MRI scans following conclusion of the scanning session to NYU-GSOM secure servers
• Keep research records
• Assist in preparation of progress reports
