About The Position

The position involves providing psychiatric evaluations and consultations in the Emergency Department as part of the Psychiatric Emergency Service/Designated Screening Center. The role requires maintaining necessary documentation for all services provided in compliance with regulatory and hospital policies, as well as providing on-call and/or clinic coverage as requested by the Department Chairperson. Additionally, the position includes educating patients and their families about medication and treatment options, offering consultative and advisory services to clinicians, and covering for the in-patient psychiatrist as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide psychiatric evaluations and consultations in the Emergency Department as part of the Psychiatric Emergency Service/Designated Screening Center.
• Maintain necessary and appropriate documentation for all services provided in compliance with regulatory and hospital policies.
• Provide on-call and/or clinic coverage as requested by the Department Chairperson.
• Provide education to patients and their families related to medication and treatment options prescribed.
• Provide consultative and advisory services to clinicians as requested.
• Provide coverage for the in-patient psychiatrist as needed.
• Participate in assigned committees’ activities such as Performance Improvement and peer review as requested.
• Participate actively in education of students and residents.
• Participate in scholarly activity and research as needed or assigned.
• Other related duties as assigned.
