About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician position is responsible for supporting and assisting the operation of the pharmacy department. This position is expected to perform additional job related responsibilities and duties throughout the facility as assigned and/or as necessary and will assist the pharmacist in inventory control of pharmacy stock, do routine clerical duties, (i.e. type memos etc.) bookkeeping duties as required, and other duties relating to the pharmacy.

Requirements

  • Graduate from High School or equivalent.
  • Completion of pharmacy technician training program from accredited school.
  • Active and current Pharmacy Technician License with State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual preferred; expressed fluency in second language will be tested.
  • Basic typing skills of 45 WPM.
  • Familiarity with basic office machines e.g., copiers, scanners.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Customer service skills within a retail and/or healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that patient data and information is accurate when entering prescription data into pharmacy software.
  • Supports work of the area by filling prescriptions by retrieving prescription orders and measuring medication.
  • Ensures effective customer service by monitoring and resolving problems in the prescription fulfillment process.
  • Processes customer purchases by operating cash registers and related hardware.
  • Communicates and engages with patients throughout the day in point of sale and billing questions.
  • Assists the pharmacist in translating consultations mandated by the board of pharmacy.
  • Promotes Pharmacy services through interactions with patients and communications with providers.
  • Maintains the Pharmacy’s professional reputation and provides patients with pharmacy products and services.
  • Maintains the pharmacy and its merchandise; stocking and rotating merchandise and supplies.
  • Verifies patient information when checking out prescriptions from the pharmacy.
  • Completes work assignments and priorities by using policies, data, and resources.
  • Handles, moves, and displays goods safely and correctly.
  • Follows safety and security guidelines when handling pharmacy goods and records.
  • Monitors pharmacy access and maintains security measures.
  • Prohibits the presence of personal belongings in the Pharmacy.
  • Keeps the pharmacy neat, clean, organized, and clutter-free.
  • Maintains awareness about community health issues related to drug abuse.
  • Shows care and concern when serving patients and exceeds their expectations.
  • Communicates respectfully and professionally with others.
  • Ensures quality of work by prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Shows integrity and ethical behavior in all workstations.
  • Adapts to changing work demands and stays focused on work.
  • Supports the safety and wellbeing of coworkers.
  • Agrees to work varying shifts as required.
  • Participates in Patient Centered Health Home Model at Omni Family Health.
