About The Position

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Special Event Paramedic (per diem) provides on-site medical support at public gatherings such as festivals, concerts, sporting events, and other large-scale functions. Responsibilities include delivering first aid and emergency medical care to attendees, staff, and performers in accordance with California state laws, county regulations in the assigned area, and Westmed policies. The role requires adaptability, professionalism, and a strong commitment to public safety in dynamic and high-traffic environments.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of medical procedures, terminology, and medications.
  • Ability to obtain California State accreditation as a Paramedic
  • Valid California Driver's License or willingness to work as a non-driver
  • Ambulance Driver Certification or willingness to work as a non-driver
  • Valid Medical Examiner Card
  • Valid ACLS Card
  • Valid PALS
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Clean 3 year DMV print out
  • At least 18 years of age

Responsibilities

  • Must be capable of performing all duties autonomously including within the context but not limited to aid station locations and/or remote posts where they are the sole medical provider.
  • Responding to emergency and non-emergency requests calmly, efficiently and promptly;
  • Administering basic and advanced life support to patients at the scene, in a pre-hospital/pre-transport setting in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations and standards;
  • Assessing the nature and extent of injury or illness to establish and prioritize medical procedures to be followed;
  • Maintaining order at scenes, including crowd disbursement and restraint of family and friends; and Completing patient care documentation and all other forms in a competent and timely fashion.
  • Conduct pre-event medical equipment inventory.
  • Cleaning, organizing and restocking supplies in a ready condition after each use;
  • Maintaining accurate records of request for emergent and non-emergent first aid and medical care. Properly document each customer/patient interaction on the approved Patient Care Report in accordance with policies and procedures;
  • Handling radio communications professionally and efficiently with careful regard to the divulgence of information respecting confidentiality requests at all times;
  • Work Cooperatively with assisting agencies. This may include, but is not limited to; Event Staff, Volunteers, security teams, EMS Transport agencies, event participants and spectators in a professional and courteous way.
