About The Position

The Per Diem/On-Call Youth Counselor position is responsible for the daily operations of a housing program aimed at supporting youth. The role involves creating a safe and affirming environment for residents, providing counseling, and overseeing program activities. Youth Counselors must be organized, independent, and effective communicators, working closely with supervisors and treatment teams to ensure the well-being of the residents.

Requirements

• High School diploma required.
• Training/Experience in youth social services required.
• Experience working with adolescent/young adult population required.
• Knowledge of psychosocial needs of LGBTQ/homeless population is helpful.
• Experience in individual and group behavioral counseling is required.
• Computer knowledge and competent writing skills are necessary.
• Must be highly organized and able to work independently.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual (Spanish) speaking encouraged to apply.
• Knowledge of psychosocial needs of LGBTQ/homeless population is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and supervise youth in the program to provide a safe, clean, and secure environment.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, hospitable, and professional atmosphere.
• Provide personal behavioral counseling and referrals.
• Facilitate groups or activities as needed.
• Prepare and supervise meals.
• Help maintain consistency in delivery of services and with regards to programmatic policies.
• Document daily services, maintain client charts, progress notes, and group notes.
• Communicate with treatment team, IT and Facilities, and program supervisors.
• Attend mandatory staff meetings and regular supervision.
