About The Position

The Per Diem Nurse Practitioner at Women & Children's Hospital is responsible for assessing, treating, solving problems, counseling, educating, and referring patients seen for primary or acute care in the clinic or related department. This role utilizes advanced assessment and evaluation techniques to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Requirements

• Master's Degree (Required)
• 2 years in the nurse practitioner role required. Equivalent combination of RN and/or nurse practitioner experience may substitute for the 2 years of required nurse practitioner experience.
• Registered Nurse (Required)
• Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (Required)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Required) within 1 year of hire
• Basic Life Support (Required) within 30 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Assess health status and health potential: plan, implement and evaluate health care needs of the patient/family.
• Plan, manage and evaluate therapeutic regimens for patients, consulting with physician(s) and other members of the health care team, including school officials.
• Plan, teach and counsel patients regarding current health care status and the signs and symptoms of illness.
• Assess growth and development of the patient.
• Perform clinical and therapeutic procedures.
• Assume a leadership role in developing nursing care policies and procedures for the unit.
• Assist with planning and monitoring quality improvement/control for the unit.
• Perform history and physical examination, and record data.
• Identify normal and abnormal findings, and consult as needed with physician to determine the plan of treatment.
