This is a per diem position. Hourly pay is $250 per hour/shift, depending on the type and timing of shifts worked. Actual compensation will be determined during the selection process and is based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, education, and internal equity. Job Summary Per Diem Emergency Medicine Physician, Newton-Wellesley Hospital Qualifications Newton-Wellesley Hospital is seeking a skilled and compassionate Emergency Medicine Physician to join our dynamic and fast-paced emergency department, as a per diem provider. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to a diverse patient population presenting with a wide range of acute medical conditions.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Emergency Medicine (ABEM or AOBEM).
  • Valid medical license to practice in MA
  • Strong clinical skills, decision-making ability, and ability to manage high-stress situations effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with a diverse healthcare team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive emergency medical care, including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and stabilization of patients with acute illnesses and injuries.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, specialists, and ancillary staff, to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Perform procedures such as intubation, central line placement, lumbar punctures, and emergency airway management as needed.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including imaging and laboratory studies, to guide clinical decision-making.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to provide clear information regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety protocols, and clinical education efforts within the emergency department.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Adhere to hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and best practices in emergency medicine.
