About The Position

The Per Diem Digital Producer at KTVU FOX 2 is responsible for creating engaging, UX-focused content that resonates with local audiences. This role involves pitching innovative story ideas, engaging with the community, and ensuring the station's digital and social media presence is strong. The producer will work collaboratively with various teams to distribute high-interest stories and monitor real-time analytics to capitalize on trending topics. The position requires a commitment to journalistic excellence and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience developing and publishing content, researching and reporting news, and curating digital and social platforms.
  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills.
  • Superior news judgment and understanding of journalism tenets and ethics.
  • Impeccable writing and copy editing skills with overwhelming attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive under deadline pressure.
  • Stellar communication skills.
  • Proficient in content management systems, video publishing, live streaming, and digital analytics tools.
  • Video and photo editing experience, preferably with Adobe products.
  • Flexibility in schedule to meet business demands.

Nice To Haves

  • A deep connection to the San Francisco Bay Area, whether through upbringing, education, or previous work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Journalism, Digital Media, or a related field.
  • Bilingual abilities in Spanish or Cantonese.

Responsibilities

  • Create compelling, UX-focused content related to news, events, and topics relevant to local users and beyond.
  • Actively pitch innovative story ideas that reflect the multifaceted nature of the San Francisco Bay Area.
  • Engage with the community, building a network of sources to empower the station's reporting.
  • Serve as liaison to the newsroom, ensuring digital and social dominance.
  • Reach and engage users on various social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and Snapchat.
  • Work with Group Content Team and other FTS markets to distribute high-interest stories at scale.
  • Demonstrate exceptional capacity for researching, reporting, and writing broadcast and digital print news copy.
  • Independently create unique and compelling content for a variety of digital platforms.
  • Collaborate interdepartmentally to curate the station's social media presence and engage with viewers.
  • Monitor real-time analytics and respond to digital trends and activity.
