About The Position

This position involves assisting in monitoring a residential program for individuals experiencing homelessness, with a primary focus on maintaining a safe environment. The role requires engaging individuals in an approachable and empathetic manner, performing rounds, and addressing their varied needs. The technician will also be responsible for managing conflict and challenging behaviors with self-awareness, emphasizing safety, and building trust while understanding each person's unique experience.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • CPR Certification or the ability to obtain certification required
  • NYC Fire Safety Guard Certification or the ability to obtain certification required
  • TB clearance when required
  • Basic computer literacy required

Nice To Haves

  • NYC Fire Safety Coordinator Certification preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire certification
  • Security guard license preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire license
  • Food Handler Certificate preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire certification
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness preferred
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others both in writing and orally
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries
  • Bilingual abilities a plus
  • Vaccination Preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Assist in monitoring this residential program for individuals experiencing homelessness, with a focus on maintaining a safe environment
  • Engage individuals in an approachable and empathetic manner while performing rounds and addressing the varied needs of individuals experiencing homelessness
  • Manage conflict or challenging behaviors with self-awareness, emphasizing safety and building trust while understanding each person's unique experience
  • Screen residents and visitors at front door
  • Create written documentation, including logbook entries, incident reports and progress notes
  • Manage inventory for supplies
  • Maintain fire safety drills and logs
  • Provide emergency first aid/CPR assistance/NARCAN when needed
  • Assist with inspections and audits
  • Escort clients as needed
  • Serve meals as needed
  • Help maintain an orderly and clean facility
  • Perform related duties as assigned
