About The Position

The Per Diem Cardio Perfusionist at Yale New Haven Health is responsible for operating extra-corporeal circulation equipment during medical procedures to support or replace a patient's cardiopulmonary and circulatory functions. This role requires a strong understanding of anatomy and the ability to monitor and manage physiological functions effectively. The position emphasizes teamwork, continuous education, and adherence to hospital policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited cardiopulmonary perfusion program with a master's degree or a bachelor's degree (master's preferred).
• Preferred two years of experience with a bachelor's or master's degree; new graduates are welcome to apply.
• Certified or eligible to be certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion.
• Connecticut State Perfusion License/ABCP Certified Clinical Perfusionist preferred or must obtain within one year of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of anatomy and cardio-respiratory systems.
• Familiarity with specialized medical, mechanical, and electronic equipment.
• Understanding of medical, clinical, and surgical procedures and practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepares for cardiac and non-cardiac procedures by assessing patient medical status and calculating perfusion requirements.
• Conducts perfusion techniques and monitors procedures to maintain appropriate patient vital signs, flows, temperature, and pressure.
• Maintains CCP status through meetings, inservices, and publications, keeping current with new developments in perfusion technology and cardiac surgery.
• Works collaboratively as a team member, providing assistance when needed.
