The Per Diem A4 Clinical Nurse provides direct and indirect nursing services to patients and families, independently performing the nursing process through individualized assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of safe, therapeutic, and efficient care. This role involves caring for patients with overt and subtle needs across the continuum of care, adhering to unit standards. The nurse will perform safe nursing care in complex situations with some assistance and supervision, demonstrate competency in unit-specific and some advanced skills, and may teach skills competencies. Responsibilities also include coordinating patient care administered by other team members, potentially serving as a relief charge nurse, and assisting with preceptorship and professional development for new nurses and students. The nurse is expected to use common equipment and medications safely, consult others when unfamiliar, recognize inconsistencies in patient care, manage potential complications, and consistently organize and prioritize workload.
