About The Position

Position Summary The Peptone Manufacturing Operator is responsible for the production of high-quality peptone and related nutrient media components used in microbiological and biopharmaceutical applications. This position plays a key role in ensuring that all production processes meet Thermo Fisher Scientific’s quality standards, regulatory requirements, and safety expectations. Location: 920 Henry St., Detroit MI 48201 Shifts: 2nd: 3p-11:30p Base Rate : $23.48/hr. + 5% Differential

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Familiarity with GMP and safety standards in a regulated production and/or manufacturing setting.
Ability to read and interpret batch records, SOPs, and equipment manuals.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to follow instructions precisely.
Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office, data entry systems).

Nice To Haves

Experience with protein hydrolysis, enzymatic digestion, or similar bioprocessing techniques.
Experience with using a pallet jack or material handling experience highly preferred.
Understanding of pH, temperature control, and moisture content testing.
Previous experience working in a batch manufacturing or fermentation environment.

Responsibilities

Operate, monitor, and maintain manufacturing equipment used in the production of peptones, including mixers, fermenters, filters, dryers, and mills.
Accurately weigh, measure, and handle raw materials according to batch records and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Perform in-process quality checks and record production data in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Maintain accurate and legible batch documentation, logbooks, and production reports.
Clean and sanitize equipment, tanks, and production areas following established cleaning protocols to prevent cross-contamination.
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to process efficiency, safety, and product quality.
Collaborate with Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve process deviations or equipment issues.
Follow all Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) requirements and actively participate in site safety programs.
Assist in raw material inventory management and material staging for upcoming batches.
Ensure compliance with ISO, GMP, and Thermo Fisher’s quality system requirements.
