About The Position

The People Operations Generalist supports day-to-day human resources operations, providing guidance and support to shoreside crew members across the organization. This role focuses on executing core HR processes, ensuring compliance, and delivering a positive crew member experience. The HR Generalist serves as a key resource for crew member relations, leave management, recruiting support, payroll support, and HR systems, while partnering closely with leadership and the broader People team. This role works closely under the guidance of the People Business Partner, supporting the execution of HR initiatives and day-to-day operations. This gig is based at VVHQ - our swanky Virgin Voyages Head Office in Plantation, FL where we follow a hybrid work environment. We can't wait to 'sea' you in person during our Collaboration Days, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, while you enjoy Mondays and Fridays' as remote days.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in Human Resources or a related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong hands-on experience with all Workday modules preferred
  • Experience managing FMLA, ADA, and workers’ compensation processes required
  • Exposure to payroll processes, with the ability to support payroll execution and auditing
  • Experience with payroll regulations and compliance state laws
  • Experience supporting recruiting and onboarding activities
  • Working knowledge of HR disciplines, including employee relations, compliance, benefits, and performance management
  • Familiarity with federal and state employment laws and HR best practices
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Solution-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Proficient in Excel and Google Sheets
  • Ability to balance hands-on execution with collaboration and escalation to senior HR leadership when needed

Nice To Haves

  • HR certification (PHR or SHRM-CP) is beneficial

Responsibilities

  • Administer and manage leave of absence programs, including FMLA and ADA, ensuring compliance and proper documentation and escalate to the People Business partner as appropriate.
  • Support recruiting efforts when needed, including job postings, interview coordination, and onboarding processes.
  • Maintain accurate employee data and transactions in Workday (hires, terminations, job changes, etc.).
  • Serve as a backup for payroll processing, including running payroll when needed and conducting audits to ensure accuracy.
  • Assist in maintaining and communicating HR policies, procedures, and programs
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
  • Assist with audits, reporting, and HR metrics tracking.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure a seamless crew member experience.
  • Participate in HR projects and initiatives as needed.
  • Support the People Business Partner in executing HR strategies and initiatives across assigned client groups.
  • Escalate complex employee relations, compliance, or performance matters to the People Business Partner as appropriate.
  • Support the Learn & Grow team as needed, contributing to training and development initiatives.
  • Assist with AI dashboard reporting and people metrics analysis to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Other duties as assigned.
