The Army Soldier and Weapon Systems Department (N214) is seeking a technical-oriented systems engineering leader to serve in the PEO Missiles and Space (PEO MS) office in Huntsville, AL. This position involves working closely with senior government civilian and military leaders to define and execute MITRE's work, requiring regular engagement with government stakeholders and potential co-location in government or contractor spaces.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 8 years and a Master's degree; or 5 years and a PhD; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • Technical background in missile systems, radar systems, communications, command and control, fire control, and/or networking.
  • Knowledge of missile and air defense systems, enterprise systems engineering, C4I, cyber security, information technology, communications, sensors, and capability integration at the enterprise/Department of Defense level.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in operational and technical assessments of Army Fire Control Systems.
  • Experience in developing CONOPs, TTPs, and business processes to support joint, interagency, and coalition interoperability.
  • Demonstrated experience leading analytical/assessment efforts and yielding impactful results at high levels of government and/or industry.
  • Proven experience engaging sponsors with successful impacts and outcomes, and establishing and maintaining strategic partnerships.
  • Established track record in leading the delivery of data-driven technical products with the military warfighting domain.
  • Demonstrated ability to take risks and lead work with partial insights, and operate effectively autonomously.
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaboration across organizational units.
  • Excellent interpersonal and technical communication skills, with the ability to author technical reports, present briefings, and persuasively speak to audiences of all backgrounds.

Nice To Haves

  • An advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science/Information Technology, Mathematics, natural/applied sciences, cyber security, or data sciences.
  • Current/Active TS/SCI Clearance.
  • Prior experience developing or assessing Army systems or operations.
  • Working knowledge of Army organizations, missions, roles/responsibilities, and relationships.
  • Knowledge of the Precision Strike Missile, Common Fire Control System and its components.
  • Familiarity with the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) and related documentation processes.
  • At least 15 years of experience working across Army organizations with an expert-level understanding of Army Acquisition and Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage a technical understanding of Army Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) systems to ensure interoperability and complementary integration along with software modernization efforts.
  • Assist the PM STORM to identify gaps and shortfalls in operational performance and propose effective mitigations.
  • Develop CONOPs, TTPs, and business processes to support joint, interagency, and coalition interoperability.
  • Perform analysis to support operational and technical assessments of Army Fire Control Systems.
  • Assess and make recommendations for Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) and other related systems engineering documentation processes.
  • Develop strategic roadmaps for software modernization across the PdMs.
  • Assist with larger cross sponsor working group leadership and execution.
  • Deliver strategy and recommendations to deliver optimal Technical Performance through the application of system engineering principles and best practices.
  • Recognize technical challenges and lead engineering activities to deliver appropriate solutions.
  • Identify and articulate program risks and associated opportunities.
  • Establish goals and communicate clear expectations and guidance that contribute to highest priority sponsor outcomes.
  • Establish strong relationships within the sponsor organization and define opportunities to collaborate with organizations outside of the sponsor.
