The Army Soldier and Weapon Systems Department (N214) is seeking a technical-oriented systems engineering leader to serve in the PEO Missiles and Space (PEO MS) office in Huntsville, AL. This position involves working closely with senior government civilian and military leaders to define and execute MITRE's work, requiring regular interaction with government stakeholders and potential co-location in government or contractor spaces.

  • Leverage a technical understanding of Army Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) systems to ensure interoperability and integration with software modernization efforts.
  • Assist the PM STORM in identifying gaps and shortfalls in operational performance and propose effective mitigations.
  • Develop CONOPs, TTPs, and business processes to support joint, interagency, and coalition interoperability.
  • Perform analysis to support operational and technical assessments of Army Fire Control Systems.
  • Assess and make recommendations for Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) and related systems engineering documentation processes.
  • Develop strategic roadmaps for software modernization across the PdMs.
  • Lead larger cross sponsor working group leadership and execution.
  • Deliver strategy and recommendations to optimize Technical Performance through systems engineering principles.
  • Recognize technical challenges and lead engineering activities to deliver appropriate solutions.
  • Identify and articulate program risks and associated opportunities.
  • Establish goals and communicate clear expectations and guidance to contribute to sponsor outcomes.
  • Build strong relationships within the sponsor organization and define collaboration opportunities with external organizations.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or 3 years and a PhD; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • Technical background in missile systems, radar systems, communications, command and control, fire control, and/or networking.
  • Knowledge of missile and air defense systems, enterprise systems engineering, C4I, cyber security, information technology, communications, sensors, and capability integration.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in operational and technical assessments of Army Fire Control Systems.
  • Experience in developing CONOPs, TTPs, and business processes for interoperability.
  • Demonstrated experience leading analytical/assessment efforts with impactful results.
  • Proven experience engaging sponsors and establishing strategic partnerships.
  • Excellent interpersonal and technical communication skills.
  • An advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science/Information Technology, Mathematics, natural/applied sciences, cyber security, or data sciences.
  • Current/Active TS/SCI Clearance.
  • Prior experience developing or assessing Army systems or operations.
  • Knowledge of the Precision Strike Missile and Common Fire Control System.
  • Familiarity with the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS).
  • At least 10 years of experience working across Army organizations with an expert-level understanding of Army Acquisition and Engineering.
