The University of Pennsylvania is seeking a full-time Penncom Telecommunicator Dispatcher to work in a 911/511 Communications Center. This position is critical to maintaining the safety and security of the Penn community, requiring Dispatchers to operate multi-line telephone console systems and radio equipment to accurately send and receive messages. The role involves entering information into a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System and dispatching requests for Police, Fire, Emergency Medical, and Security Services. Dispatchers will also monitor access security systems, fire alarm systems, notification systems, and Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) monitoring equipment. The ability to think quickly and work under pressure is essential, as Dispatchers must interpret and analyze callers' situations to provide appropriate responses, dispatch emergency services, or refer callers to other agencies. This position requires working various shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, to ensure 24/7 operations of PennComm. Employees must complete a 40-hour APCO Telecommunications Course and obtain CPR certification within their probationary period. The role is considered essential personnel, and candidates must demonstrate good communication and listening skills, proficiency with computer applications, and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
