About The Position

As part of our recent growth, we are seeking an experienced Penetrant Trainee to join our team. The ideal candidate will prepare and process aerospace and commercial parts and materials using the water wash method of fluorescent dye penetrant.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, communicate and/or follow written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Ability to communicate in English through voice, or American Sign Language or adaptive technology.

  • Frequent ability to lift or move 40lbs.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms; use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel material.
  • Constant ability to stand at a work station.
  • Near vision requirement - 20/25 (Snellen) at 16" (42 cm) +/- 1" (2.54 cm) or equivalent in at least one eye, natural or corrected.
  • Color perception requirement - capability of distinguishing and differentiating contrast in the colors used with the Ishihara 24 Plate test.
  • All Penetrant Inspection employees are required to complete an eye exam prior to hire and annually afterward.
  • Constant requirement to wear industry standard personal protective equipment (PPE) including protective boots.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret drawings, technical procedures, and specifications in written, oral, diagram, and schedule form.
  • Basic computer literacy in Windows environment and basic literacy in MS Office.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use basic measuring equipment to inspect parts.
  • Ability to identify, organize, estimate and recognize differences or similarities.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • High school Diploma/GED

Responsibilities

  • Mask (as necessary) and pre-clean parts for processing using solvents and aluminum soak cleaners.
  • Process parts through a water wash penetrant system according to written procedures.
  • Conduct daily calibration tests according to written procedures.
  • Occasionally package parts for return to customer.
  • Process paperwork associated with Penetrant (work orders).
  • Handles hazardous materials safely - add waste to containers, transfer waste to accumulation bins and label containers.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency.
