The Mathematics Department at Tulane University invites applications for the Pendergraft Herbert Buchanan Professorship in Mathematics to begin in the fall of 2025. Applicants at the Associate Professor level are preferred, but exceptional applicants at other ranks may also be considered. We seek candidates who have established a strong record of independent research, are committed to excellence in teaching, and show a dedication to service. The successful candidate will strengthen our existing research program in analysis, particularly in areas such as partial differential equations, dynamical systems, stochastic analysis, or fluid dynamics. We are especially interested in candidates whose research has the potential to connect with broader university-wide initiatives that emphasize interdisciplinary collaboration and address critical global challenges. These initiatives include resilient habitats and communities, the intersection of human cognition and cyber systems, and applications of artificial intelligence.
