About The Position

The Peer Support Specialist at Community Resources for Justice (CRJ) is a part-time role focused on providing support to individuals in recovery. This position involves facilitating peer support groups, offering one-on-one recovery coaching, and helping members navigate community resources. The role emphasizes the importance of personal recovery experience and aims to foster supportive relationships with clients to aid in their recovery journey.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 2 years of personal recovery required
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred (stipend included)
  • 1 year of experience working with persons with the population supported
  • Certified as a Peer Support Specialist preferred or minimum 35 hours of Peer Support Training and Peer Support Certification eligible within 12 months
  • Valid driver's license and automotive insurance

Responsibilities

  • Meeting with members to provide peer support in accordance with recovery plan.
  • Facilitate peer support groups and one-on-one sessions with assigned caseload on a regular basis.
  • Assisting members by finding resources, advising the members of processes, and encouraging follow-through with proposed resolutions, locating social activities, or providing other assistance as needed.
  • Fostering members' development of healthy relationships by encouraging participation in community activities.
  • Modeling effective coping and self-help techniques to individuals or groups of members.
  • Providing support to members on empowerment skills and successful community living.
  • Provide Narcan administration education to the members served.
  • Facilitate intake GPRA assessment and follow-up assessment in accordance with grant guidelines.
  • Enter GPRA reports into the SPARS system in compliance with SAHSA grant requirements.
  • Participate in all mandatory training through CRJ and uphold all ethical and compliance standards.
