Division Overview: The Adult Criminal Justice and Treatment Services (ACJS) supports clients who may have struggles related to a substance use disorder. We provide opportunities for clients to rebuild their lives so they can become healthy and self-sufficient. ACJS work includes screening and assessments for substance use disorders, placing clients into treatment programs, monitoring and reporting on progress, and providing support including, but not limited to, insurance enrollment, obtaining a state ID, and finding employment resources. We are currently looking for Full-Time Peer Support Advocate Starting at $39,000 - $40,000; contingent upon experience, education, etc. POSITION SUMMARY: This position supports others in their recovery journey and serves as a role model, mentor, advocate and motivate individuals in order to help prevent relapse and promote long-term recovery. It is important that the Peer Support Advocate has the ability to share personal recovery experiences and to develop authentic peer-to-peer relationships.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience participating in their own personal recovery process in order to care for self and/or family member
  • Must understand and respect an individuals unique path to recovery
  • Must possess a commitment to the recovery community
  • Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work with a diverse population
  • Within one year of hire, will be required to obtain Certified Recovery Support Specialist certification (CRSS) through the Illinois Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Professional Certification Association
  • Knowledge of community support resources, organizations, governmental agencies, and nonprofits

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals in achieving recovery goals through direct services and coordination of behavior health, public agencies, and community resources.
  • Assists recovering persons to identify personal interests, goals, strengths, and weaknesses regarding recovery; educates and coordinates program services and resources
  • Evaluates, facilitates, and monitors individuals progress in relationship to established goals and objectives
  • Locates and re-engages clients into recovery services
  • Ensures documentation and service hour goals are met on a regular basis , adhering to regulatory and compliance standards
  • Supports the individual in identifying and understanding their wellness needs and help assist the client in meeting their identified needs.
  • Provides referrals to community programs for identified needs.
