This role offers a truly enriching experience focusing on your professional development. This is a part-time (up to 16 hours per week) position as a Peer Support Specialist for adults with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders. Under the guidance of the lead clinician, a peer support specialist shares their own recovery experience and provides supportive community services such as assisting and teaching a consumer to obtain housing, employment, medical care, transportation, recreation, financial benefits, and other available entitlements. assist consumers in accessing community resources, support consumers in developing recovery plans, and provide education on recovery from mental illness and substance use. Peer Support Specialists advocate for and enhance acceptance of individuals with mental illness in the workplace, family, and community. Services are primarily provided with consumers in their homes and in the community. Peer Support Specialists work occurs in office, home, and community settings. Peer Support Specialists work under the supervision of the Mental Health Program Director and Program Coordinator.
