About The Position

Clarity Wellness Community is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Peer Support Specialist to join our team. In this vital role, you will walk alongside individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges, providing support, building trust, fostering independence, and helping them navigate their personal path to recovery. As a Peer Support Specialist, you'll provide community- and home-based services that uplift, encourage, and empower individuals.

Requirements

• Identifies as being in active recovery from a behavioral health condition and is willing to self-disclose their journey.
• Holds (or is eligible for) OMH New York Certified Peer Specialist (NYCPS) certification or Office of Addiction Services peer certification.
• Understands harm reduction, motivational interviewing, and person-centered recovery models.
• Has strong communication, coping, and problem-solving skills.
• Is adaptable, empathetic, and able to think critically in complex situations.
• Is proficient, or willing to become proficient, in Microsoft Office and electronic medical records.
• Holds a valid driver's license , has at least 3 years of driving history, and can pass a DMV check.

Nice To Haves

• Has experience supporting adults with behavioral health challenges (preferred).
