At Amae Health, we are dedicated to helping the 15.4 million Americans living with severe mental illness (SMI) lead stable, meaningful lives, while ending the cycle of repeat hospitalizations. In partnership with some of the nation’s top academic medical centers we’ve pioneered an innovative outpatient care model that combines compassionate, in-person psychiatric care with comprehensive wraparound support. Our integrated care teams — including psychiatrists, therapists, primary care physicians, health coaches, and peer support specialists — work together to treat the whole person via a unique model, addressing physical, mental, and social needs in unison. By caring for every aspect of our patients’ well-being, we help them not just survive, but truly thrive. Amae Health is a Series B venture-backed Public Benefit Corporation dedicated to becoming the nation's center of excellence for individuals living with severe mental illness (SMI). Backed by top-tier venture capital firms and strategic healthcare investors, we collaborate with prestigious health systems including Mass General Brigham, NewYork-Presbyterian and Cedars-Sinai, underscoring our commitment to fundamentally transforming mental health care delivery at scale. Amae Health is looking for a passionate Peer Support Specialist to join us in providing exceptional care for complex adult members. This position is on site at our Brooklyn clinic in New York City. As a Peer Support Specialist at Amae, you’ll play a vital role in empowering members throughout their care journey. Drawing from your own lived experience, you’ll serve as a coach, mentor, and advocate, helping members set meaningful goals, build confidence, and develop the skills to live healthy, purposeful lives. You’ll work in-person, meeting members where they are, whether in the clinic, hospital, or their homes, to offer guidance, connection, and hope. By fostering trust and building authentic relationships, you’ll help members navigate health and social service systems, connect with community resources, and feel supported every step of the way. You are a compassionate, caring individual in stable recovery who is passionate about supporting others. You can engage in honest, sometimes difficult conversations while maintaining clear boundaries, and you help members follow their care and wellness plans within your role. You build trust through empathy and active listening and are committed to helping members feel supported, empowered, and connected. You thrive in collaborative environments and take pride in helping members overcome challenges to achieve meaningful progress.
