About The Position

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of lived experience with substance use disorder and/or mental health challenges.
  • Minimum of 2 years of sustained recovery required in your chosen pathway.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to establish rapport and maintain boundaries with clients.
  • Commitment to cultural humility, diversity, and inclusion.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in peer support or related fields preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group peer support sessions to clients, utilizing lived experience, empathy, and active listening.
  • Collaborate with clients to identify strengths, resources, and goals, and develop personalized recovery plans.
  • Advocate for clients' rights and preferences within the organization and in external interactions.
  • Educate clients about recovery-oriented principles, harm reduction strategies, and community resources.
  • Offer crisis intervention and emotional support to clients in distress.
  • Share personal recovery experiences and coping strategies to inspire hope among clients.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of peer support interactions and client outcomes.
  • Submit timely reports and documentation as required by contractual agreements.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
