About The Position

Peer Support Trainers who are certified Peer Support Specialists! Empower Others Through Your Experience! The Recovery Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting individuals on their journey to recovery from addiction and mental health challenges. This position involves providing guidance, support, and resources to clients, helping them navigate their recovery process while fostering a positive and encouraging environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong crisis management skills and a deep understanding of behavioral health principles. Just 1 Life Services is expanding our team of Peer Support Trainers to teach and inspire the next generation of Peer Support Specialists. Requirements

  • Must have lived experience in recovery and a strong desire to support others.
  • Current PRSS (Peer Recovery Support Specialist) certification from Just 1 Life Services, relevant to what you’ll teach.
  • Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Recent TB test
  • 3 Contactable references
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • Comfortable with virtual teaching tools and tech able to guide others with ease.

Nice To Haves

  • Relias training is transferable - if you’ve completed courses elsewhere, we can honor them.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Peer Support Trainings: Teach certification classes virtually via Zoom, using screen share and interactive tools to engage and educate trainees. Prepare materials and adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs. Ensure trainees master peer support principles, ethics, and practical skills.
  • Provide Direct Peer Support: Offer mentorship, encouragement, and lived experience guidance to support client recovery and personal growth.Help clients set recovery goals, build resilience, and maintain healthy support systems.
  • Teach & Support Life Skills: Provide life skills coaching such as budgeting, developing healthy habits, organizational skills, and any life skill needed to help achieve client goals.
  • Promote Client Success & Independence: Assist with resumes, job applications, interview prep, and connecting to community resources for housing, employment, and education.Make outreach calls to clients who have disengaged from services to encourage re-engagement.
  • Support Coordination of Care: Notify counselors when goals are completed so treatment plans can be updated. Send discharge referrals to counselors when clients have completed all goals. Participate in team communication to ensure coordinated care.
  • Uphold Professional & Ethical Standards: Maintain strict HIPAA compliance and confidentiality at all times.
  • Relias trainings and continuing education requirements on time to maintain certification and professional standards. Attend regular supervision sessions with my supervisor to review client progress, discuss challenges, and identify growth opportunities.
  • Documentation: Complete all required notes and records within 24 hours of service delivery, ensuring documentation is clear, thorough, and compliant with agency policy.
  • Maintain a professional, supportive, and recovery-focused demeanor with all clients, colleagues, and trainees. Stay up to date on peer support best practices and trauma-informed care. Attire needs to be professional even virtually.
  • Advocate- Advocate for clients to support their individual needs.
