About The Position

The Peer Support Specialist / Qualified Professional (QP) provides recovery-oriented, peer support and substance use services to program beneficiaries in an in-office clinical setting . This role supports individuals with substance use disorders by promoting recovery, self-advocacy, wellness, and engagement in services. This position is non-supervisory and focuses on direct service delivery, documentation, collaboration with the treatment team, and program support. The role is open to North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialists and Qualified Professionals (QP) who meet NC substance use service requirements.

Requirements

  • Meet the State of North Carolina definition of a Peer Support Specialist
  • Hold current NC Peer Support Specialist Certification , or be willing to obtain certification within agency-required timeframes
  • Have lived experience and self-identify as a person in recovery from a substance use disorder
  • Be willing to appropriately share lived experience to support program beneficiaries
  • Applicants must meet NC Qualified Professional requirements for substance use services, which typically include one of the following : Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in: Human Services Social Work Psychology Sociology Counseling Addiction Studies AND At least two (2) years of experience working with individuals with substance use disorders OR Master’s degree in a human services–related field with at least one (1) year of relevant experience (Final determination of QP status will be made in accordance with NC DHHS and LME/MCO requirements.)
  • Valid NC or SC driver’s license
  • Ability to meet documentation, confidentiality, and compliance standards
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary treatment team
  • Ability to work a consistent in-office schedule

Responsibilities

  • Provide peer support and substance use services in accordance with NC service definitions and best practices
  • Assist clients with symptom management and recovery by modeling wellness, self-advocacy, responsibility, and hope
  • Encourage active participation in recovery and treatment services
  • Teach and reinforce self-advocacy, coping, and recovery skills
  • Support clients in building healthy routines and support systems
  • Facilitate individual and group peer support services
  • When appropriate, share lived experience to support engagement and recovery
  • Participate in team meetings and required supervision
  • Participate in intake, screening, assessment, and referrals as appropriate to role and credentials
  • Support person-centered planning and plan reviews
  • Maintain required frequency, duration, and quality of service delivery
  • Complete timely, accurate documentation of services, incidents, and transitions
  • Support admissions, transitions, referrals, and discharges as assigned
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state confidentiality laws and managed care requirements
  • Attend required Anuvia meetings and trainings
  • Contribute to program goals, quality improvement efforts, and new initiatives
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record
  • Adhere to all Anuvia policies and procedures
  • Maintain a professional, organized workspace
