The Peer Support Specialist role is focused on in-reach, engagement, education, and support for adults with serious mental illness (SMI) or serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI). This position aims to inform individuals about community-based mental health services and supported housing options, including tenancy support services and rental assistance. The Peer Support Specialist will conduct ongoing in-reach to educate members about community options, including transitioning to supported housing, and the benefits and services available to them. The role also involves informing members about Medicaid, Special Assistance, and other services they may be eligible for. Additionally, the Peer Support Specialist will facilitate opportunities for members to connect with others who have disabilities and are receiving services in inclusive settings.
