About The Position

Join our compassionate, community-focused ACT team and make a difference in the lives of individuals living with severe and persistent mental illness. About the Role: The Peer Support Specialist provides person-centered support services that promote recovery, resilience, and wellness for adults receiving services through MaineGeneral’s Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) program. This role is a key part of a multidisciplinary team, including case managers, mental health nurse practitioners, nurses, employment specialists, and more.

Requirements

Certified Intentional Peer Support Specialist (CIPSS) preferred at time of hire
CIPSS certification required within 12 months of hire
Associate degree preferred
Valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record required
Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills
A passion for supporting others in their recovery journey

Responsibilities

Provide mentorship and education related to wellness and recovery
Help individuals identify needs and connect with appropriate services and supports
Collaborate with ACT team members to support treatment goals
Educate patients and staff about peer support and recovery-oriented services
Accurately document interactions and interventions in accordance with healthcare standards
