About The Position

The Peer Support Coordinator will work directly for the Blue Star Families’ Director, Peer Support and Suicide Prevention Programs, to execute and support all operational and administrative duties for Blue Star Families’ Blue Star Support Circles Program. The Peer Support Coordinator will assist with communication, coordination, and administrative tasks related to the Blue Star Support Circles Program.

Requirements

  • 0-2 years of work experience, preferably with program(s) supporting outdoor initiatives
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or comparable work experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Project Management system experience or ability to learn new software.
  • Ability to produce high-quality work on deadline; comfortable managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with military-connected communities or a passion for supporting military families.
  • Experience and/or comfort working in a virtual environment

Responsibilities

  • Track metrics to measure the effectiveness of Blue Star Support Circles as needed and in collaboration with University of Alabama and BSF’s Research and Evaluation Team.
  • Serve as an internal and external spokesperson for the Blue Star Support Circles.
  • Support the team by performing tasks related to organization, administration, scheduling, and strong communication.
  • Monitor day-to-day operations to ensure efficiency, productivity, and adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Review budget in collaboration with Director
  • Salesforce needs/tracking
  • Maintain all Neighborhood groups, events, and communications for Support Circles program
  • Support all hive tasks related to chapter location recruitment and coordinating technology needs for the program.
  • Maintain data spreadsheet for all lethal means safety needs, cohort participants to include intake form tracking
  • Maintain participant files with all necessary documents
  • Communication support and collaboration for Combat the Silence and Blue Star Support Circles
  • Data entry and management with various systems in collaboration with University of Alabama and VA
  • Support and maintain an understanding of Blue Star Families’ strategic goals and their relationship to targets and priorities.
  • Develop intentional relationships within Blue Star Families and with external organizations to offer insight and opportunities for change and collaboration.
  • Some travel is required to attend meetings, training, events, etc.
  • May be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary to carry out key job functions.
  • Ability to lift and carry supplies and equipment up to 30 lbs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
