About The Position

The Peer Specialist - Lead will oversee assigned peer specialists and Human Services Technicians, providing guidance and support from a consumer's perspective to enhance community services. This role involves direct peer services to individuals, ensuring their needs are met while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with relevant regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • At least one year of full-time experience in a mental health or addictions treatment setting.
  • Certification as a Certified Peer Specialist by the Florida Certification Board within one year of hire.
  • Knowledge of addictions treatment and/or mental health treatment programs and supportive services.
  • General understanding of the causes, nature, and treatment of substance abuse and/or mental health problems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide lead guidance and assign day-to-day activities to other Peer Specialists and Human Services Technicians.
  • Train assigned peers on contract specifications and electronic health record systems.
  • Maintain confidentiality of persons served in compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR requirements.
  • Prepare reports for management and funding sources as required by contracts.
  • Complete purchase orders for program-related purchases.
  • Participate in community forums addressing substance abuse and mental health issues.
  • Gather feedback from individuals regarding services received and relay it to the department and providers.
  • Assist providers in developing recovery objectives for individuals.
  • Identify areas for improvement in service delivery with providers.
  • Engage individuals in discussions about their experiences to promote understanding and recovery.
  • Assist with enrollment for services from community behavioral health providers.
  • Help identify conducive program environments for recovery.
  • Facilitate peer group support using the Illness Management and Recovery model.
  • Maintain a personal recovery plan for individuals served, including strengths, needs, and goals.
  • Attend treatment team meetings to support consumer insights into recovery.
  • Provide community liaison services as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Perform other reasonable and related duties as assigned.
