About The Position

This position will facilitate weekly non-clinical recovery support groups and meetings and provide one-on-one peer recovery coaching sessions for students seeking support. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, public health, human services, or related field
  • A minimum of one (1) year of related experience
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.
  • Must currently hold PRSS SUD Credentials
  • Knowledge of substance use disorders, evidenced-based practices, and recovery support
  • Understanding of diverse recovery pathways and harm reduction strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to support students with compassion, empathy, and professional
  • Strong communication and boundary-setting skills
  • Documented personal history with substance use disorder recovery and have a stable recovery for the past two years at a minimum
  • Must be currently involved with a personal support and/or recovery system/pathway of their choosing
  • Must have no legal involvement related to SUD/OUD within the last six months
  • Must have not had intensive behavioral health treatment involvement with the last six months
  • Must pass a Criminal Background Check and Employment Fitness Determination through WVCARES and drug screen.
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills required
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of basic computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisory experience strongly preferred
  • Experience providing nonclinical peer support and facilitating groups strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Routinely email or message students who have sought support services for check-ins
  • Maintain weekly office hours at Serenity Place to be available for drop-in meetings
  • Plan, promote, and execute regular educational sessions and informational events designed to help combat stigma related to addiction and recovery and increase awareness of WVU Collegiate Recovery
  • Conduct outreach visits to identified community and state partners
  • Build and enhance partnerships between campus and community stakeholders
  • Work with other WVU CRP staff members to plan and host sober social events and other community-building events
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to connect students with additional resources and support
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of Naloxone training events
  • Work with WVU CRP Director and Program Coordinator to plan and deliver regular Recovery Ally trainings
  • Participate in ongoing trainings, webinars, conferences, and more to increase skills and knowledge
  • Guide students in developing individualized recovery plans, including elements such as setting goals, enhancing skills, and improving overall well-being
  • Work alongside WVU CRP Program Coordinator to learn how to navigate academic systems and procedures and use knowledge gained to more effectively support students
  • Track student engagement, including total peer one-on-one and support meetings, follow-up rates, attendance at events, student outcomes, and more
  • Provide monthly data reports to WVU CRP Director and Program Coordinator
  • Submit all required grant reports by established deadlines
  • Maintain practices and support that are trauma-informed and culturally responsive
  • Meet with WVU CRP Program Coordinator weekly
  • Provide regular progress updates and reports to WVU CRP Director
  • Always adhere to all PRSS standards and ethics
  • Develop a strong working knowledge of WVU CRP and follow all policies, procedures, and community standards
  • Provide mentorship, training, and support to WVU CRP student workers and interns
  • Serve as a positive and respectful ambassador for WVU and WVU CRP by maintaining a positive attitude and performing duties in a manner in accordance with institutional missions, values, codes of conduct and ethical practices
  • Complete other duties as assigned
