About The Position

The Peer Recovery Support Specialist will be responsible for providing support for members of the Recovery Center who are working on their personal recovery. They will help guide members in their recovery by advocating, referring for treatment, providing linkages to community resources, and sharing their own personal recovery to aid in fostering a supportive relationship with members. The Peer Recovery Support Specialist will facilitate recovery support groups and provide one on one recovery coaching to members of the Recovery Center.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
  • 1 year of relevant experience working with recovery populations
  • Minimum of 2 years of personal recovery
  • Valid drivers’ license and automotive insurance

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual – Spanish is a plus
  • Certified as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist preferred
  • Or a minimum of 35 hours of Peer Support Training and Peer Support Certification eligible within 12 months

Responsibilities

  • Meeting with members to provide peer support in accordance with the recovery plan.
  • Facilitate peer support groups and one on one sessions with assigned caseload on a regular basis.
  • Assisting members by finding resources, advising the members of processes, and encouraging follow-through with proposed resolutions, locating social activities, or provide other assistance as needed.
  • Fostering member’s development of healthy relationships by encouraging participation in community activities
  • Modeling effective coping and self-help techniques to individuals or groups of members.
  • Providing support to members on empowerment skills and successful community living
  • Provide Narcan administration education to the members served.
  • Facilitate intake GPRA assessment and follow up assessment in accordance with grant guidelines.
  • Enter GPRA reports into the SPARS system in compliance with SAHSA grant requirements.
  • Participate in all mandatory training through CRJ and uphold all ethical and compliance standards.
