About The Position

Our dedicated team provides personalized care to create an environment that fosters healing for everyone who walks through our doors. We are searching for a dynamic individual to become the PEER RECOVERY SPECIALIST for our unit. The peer support specialist will provide support to patients in recovery. The specialist is responsible for supporting individuals in recovery, mentoring people with behavioral health issues, helping individuals improve their social connections, and coordinating agency volunteers. All applicants must undergo pre-employment drug screening, which includes testing for marijuana, a TB test, and a background check.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Lived experience with substance misuse and is actively participating in their chosen recovery path for a minimum of two (2) years.
  • Must complete or maintain peer specialist certification (60 hours)/credential within twelve (12) months of employment – the employer can provide certification.
  • Cross-cultural skills and experience with culturally diverse populations.
  • Basic computer skills are required, including using Microsoft Office Programs such as Outlook, Word, and Excel, as well as familiarity with office equipment.
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License with a driving record that meets agency requirements.

Responsibilities

  • The ability to summarize the positive effects of personal recovery experience and willingness to share this experience in a way that would be helpful to others.
  • Connect with individuals in need of recovery support and help them navigate their recovery pathway.
  • Support individuals in developing coping skills and strategies for a recovery lifestyle and healthy living.
  • Facilitate groups in an open and welcoming environment.
  • Provide direct one-on-one peer support utilizing your personal lived experience.
  • Establish connections with treatment providers and other community resources, including participating in community meetings and collaborative efforts.
  • Conduct outreach efforts in collaboration with harm reduction and withdrawal management organizations.
  • Collaborate with local law enforcement and judicial branch programs/courts, as well as participants.
  • Must honor, support, and accept all pathways to recovery.
