About The Position
Redefining the Future Network, Inc. is seeking a compassionate and motivated Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS) to support individuals in recovery from substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. This role is grounded in lived experience and focuses on empowering clients through advocacy, mentorship, and recovery-oriented support services. The Peer Recovery Specialist will work as part of an interdisciplinary team to promote recovery, self-sufficiency, and community integration.
Requirements
- Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) in the state of Maryland OR eligible to obtain certification
- Must have lived experience with substance use and/or mental health recovery
- High school diploma or GED required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to serve as a positive role model and maintain appropriate boundaries
Nice To Haves
- Experience working in behavioral health or community-based settings
- Knowledge of recovery-oriented systems of care and trauma-informed approaches
- Familiarity with local community resources in Baltimore City and surrounding areas
- Experience with electronic health records (e.g., TheraNest)
- Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply
Responsibilities
- Provide peer support services based on lived recovery experience
- Build supportive, strengths-based relationships with clients
- Assist clients in developing and achieving individualized recovery goals
- Support clients with linkage to community resources (housing, employment, education, healthcare)
- Facilitate or co-facilitate recovery-oriented groups and wellness activities
- Promote self-advocacy, empowerment, and independent living skills
- Assist with crisis support and encourage the use of coping strategies and recovery tools
- Document services accurately and timely in accordance with program and Medicaid standards
- Collaborate with clinical and care coordination teams to support holistic care
- Participate in team meetings, supervision, and required trainings
- Perform other duties as assigned
