About The Position

The Peer Professional is responsible for providing community-based recovery services to PARC Bronx/Queens program and to Community Oriented Rehabilitation and Empowerment Services (CORES) participants. This role involves conducting outreach, advocacy, and developing sober social and support activities while ensuring compliance with regulatory and funding agents. The incumbent will deliver services both on-site and in the community, supporting the mission and goals of Samaritan Daytop Village.

Requirements

  • Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) or CRPA-Provisional Certificate.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Computer literacy including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and EHR.
  • Knowledge or shared lived experience with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) and/or Substance Use Disorder (StUD).
  • Willingness to travel throughout the required catchment area and navigate public transportation.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including some Saturday and evening work.
  • Knowledge and commitment to recovery-oriented systems of care.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to think logically, prioritize, and follow procedures.
  • Experience working with diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Experience with advocacy, outreach, engagement, self-help, recovery, and transitional supports.

Responsibilities

  • Support PARC Centers and CORES participants in developing and implementing a person-centered recovery plan.
  • Meet with each participant regularly to provide support in line with the recovery plan via telehealth or in-person sessions.
  • Complete Government Performance & Results Act (GPRA) intake and six months follow up on eligible participants.
  • Produce and maintain thorough, accurate, and timely documentation of interactions with participants and services provided.
  • Provide CORE services including Community Psychiatric Support and Treatment (CPST), Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR), Family Support and Training (FST), and Empowerment Services.
  • Provide companionship and accompaniment to participants during community appointments and recovery-oriented activities.
  • Implement community outreach plan and conduct community presentations.
  • Provide Naloxone (Narcan) Training to participants and community members.
  • Attend relevant community meetings and participate in councils and committees.
