About The Position

Under the supervision of the Coordinator of Crisis Services, will serve individuals requiring an enhanced level of support for substance use disorders and/or Co-occurring disorders who access CMHA-CEI’s Crisis Services. The Recovery Coach will serve as a role model, mentor, advocate, and motivator to individuals seeking recovery to help access services and supports, prevent relapse and promote long-term recovery. Responsible for carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies, and procedures. This position will be a flex position working both; in the office and with the expectation to deploy with the mobile staff into the community to meet with individuals who are experiencing a mental health crisis.

Requirements

  • Possession of a high school diploma or G.E.D. is required.
  • Must have two continuous years in recovery from addiction(s) with experience navigating treatment services and/or prevention; experience receiving publicly funded treatment and recovery services for addiction.
  • One year of experience interacting with people with substance use disorder is required.
  • Must possess MDHHS Peer Recovery Coach certification or the MCBAP Certified Peer Recovery Mentor certification.
  • Ability to communicate accurately and effectively both orally and in writing is required.
  • Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for job-related use is required.
  • Employment offers for this position will be contingent upon the results of a criminal background check (including fingerprinting), a physical exam, and verification of an acceptable Michigan driving record.
  • Must be able to pass a physical exam annually.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen.
