The Peer Navigator assists in providing the most accessible and highest quality comprehensive customer service to individuals and families seeking services in Spokane County. This position works to connect participants to available resources within the community, accurately collects client information and demographics, and assists service seekers in creating SMARTT goals to inspire healthy and productive living. The Peer Navigator Program and Workforce Development teams work side-by-side with the community to take on the biggest, most complex issues. The Peer Navigator should provide recovery-based supportive services, utilizing lived experience from previous justice involvement. The role will be primarily focused on promoting case management goals, empowering program participants, providing education on resources, and personal assistance in accessing services. Special knowledge in de-escalation, mental health management, substance use recovery and navigating public systems is critical.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED
  • Lived experience, defined as a current or past recipient of behavioral health services and/or with current or past involvement in the criminal legal system or in active recovery, and able to provide appropriate case management and support services to program participants without impairing their ability to remain in active recovery
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, personal auto insurance, and a driver's abstract/driving record acceptable to Pioneer’s auto insurance company. Employee must meet requirements of Pioneer’s approved driver policy and guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous case management experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite products

Responsibilities

  • Provide outreach and intensive case management services for assigned participants
  • Maintain a participant caseload within the uniform program standards.
  • Develop and maintain a working relationship with crisis stabilization facilities, crisis responders, Evaluation and Treatment facility staff, DSHS workers, Substance Use Disorder treatment providers, mental health providers, health care providers, shelter providers, landlords, withdraw management centers, assessment center staff, protective or representative payees, and other community programs which may support participants.
  • Provide structured Intensive case management services consistent with program policies.
  • Engage participants in the community, at referral locations, or service provider facilities
  • Assist participants with housing, benefits, and access to community resources
  • Advocate for participants within public systems and with service providers
  • Maintain accurate documentation and participant records
