About The Position

The Peer Mentoring Program pairs first-year students with second-year students, for a one-on-one approach to Higher Education learning and improving skill sets. This program assists students with transitioning and connects them with resources and support in the AMDA community. Peer mentors will act as the first line of support and guidance for 1st year students. Required to work Orientation.

Requirements

  • Good academic standing
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Good computer and technology skills
  • Mentors should be in their 3rd, 4th, or 5th semester, flexible

Responsibilities

  • Check-ins with peer mentee at least once a week. This can be done in-person, over zoom/ FaceTime.
  • MUST BE AVAILABLE DURING ORIENTATION.
  • Attend at least three virtual/in-person events with your mentee for the semester. This can be an RA event, mental health workshop, or alliance/club event. After you attend these events, you will record any information on a form.
  • Bi-Weekly meetings with success advisors to discuss the progress of mentees and training.
  • Each mentor can have up to 3 mentees, it is your responsibility to set boundaries, hours and ways of communication up with each mentee at the start of each term.
  • Bi-Weekly meetings with Success advisors
  • Weekly Check-ins with mentees over the semester
  • 3 AMDA events throughout the semester
  • Meeting Reports submitted after each meeting with mentee
  • Required in-person Orientation: Dates specified on Job Application
  • Creation of events, workshops, and other engagement opportunities for the mentees and AMDA community.
