About The Position

The UNV Peer Leader position is an integral role at Pace University, designed to assist first-year students in their transition to college life. This position requires Peer Leaders to act as role models both inside and outside of the classroom, helping to create a sense of belonging and community among new students. UNV Peer Leaders will participate in weekly classroom sessions during the Fall 2025 semester and will be supervised by the First Year Experience Advising Office. The role includes responsibilities such as assisting instructors, promoting university resources, and addressing student concerns. Peer Leaders will receive a stipend of $400 for their work, which includes training and mentoring activities.

Requirements

  • Must be a full-time undergraduate student on the New York City campus.
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.75 by the position start date.
  • Proficiency in all Pace technology platforms including Classes, Pace Portal, Pace website, Pace Path Webform, Schedule Explorer, Zoom, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of major and core curriculum requirements.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Strong commitment to help new students succeed academically.
  • No current university judicial sanctions at the date of application.

Responsibilities

  • Assist UNV Instructor with classroom set up, attendance, presentations, community builders, and Pace technology platforms.
  • Establish, develop, and maintain connections with first-year students, promoting a sense of belonging and community.
  • Provide and promote information on Pace events, resources, and academic success skill opportunities.
  • Assist students with understanding and effectively using all applicable Pace technology platforms.
  • Monitor and address student concerns and collaborate with the instructor to resolve and/or refer as necessary.
  • Attend and complete all scheduled trainings, both virtual and in-person.
  • Attend and participate in all weekly classroom sessions.
  • Attend UNV Instructor meetings by zoom, email, or in-person as required.
