The Role The Peer Instructor delivers high-quality training, mentorship, and administrative support to individuals entering or advancing in the peer support workforce. This role includes facilitating core peer support trainings – including Recovery Coach, Peer Ethics, Sustaining Recovery Through Wellness, and Naloxone trainings, as well as coordinating evidence‑based trainings such as Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) and QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer). provides guidance on certification preparation and professional development. The Peer Instructor models recovery values, ethical practice, and trauma‑informed care while strengthening pathways into the peer profession.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or higher.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in the behavioral health field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Ability to implement and monitor policies and procedures in alignment with agency guidelines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health records (EHR).
  • Knowledge of and commitment to recovery‑oriented systems of care.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the 30‑hour Recovery Coach, 16‑hour Peer Ethics, 7‑hour Sustaining Recovery Through Wellness, Mental Health First Aid, and other required trainings, including managing enrollments, payments, and distribution of training materials.
  • Facilitate bi-weekly Naloxone trainings for community partners and community members.
  • Coordinate monthly Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) and QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) trainings.
  • Conduct monthly Peer Professional Learning Collaboratives to support ongoing skill development and professional growth.
  • Oversee the Recovery Coach Internship Program and provide bi‑weekly individual and group supervision to Peer Interns.
  • Assess training effectiveness and support continuous improvement in peer workforce development.
  • Connect peers with resources, advocate for peer role expansion, and collaborate with community partners and organizations to strengthen peer support services
